I have been following the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood avidly, and was impressed by the double-edition ending yesterday evening.
On reflection there seems to be some mileage in comparing and contrasting the community gathered at St Anne’s in That Hideous Strength with the the Torchwood community gathered under the Millennium Stadium in Caerdydd.
One of the major differences is of course the different ways in which relationships are expressed in the 1940s as compared with those in the Twenty-first Century. But you still have, what seems at first, an inadequate group working for the ‘Good’ against ‘Evil’, most clearly represented in the closing programmes of the series with the primordial evil of Abaddon, reminiscent of ‘The Satan Pit’ episode in Doctor Who .
Any thoughts from anyone else?
