THS truly is a favorite book of mine - - by which I don't even necessarily think it is one of the greatest works of literature that I have ever read, but that it connects with things that matter to me - - all over the place; and that when I return to it, I always have a sense of coming home.
Allow me to recommend Lars Walker's novel Wolf Time as a book that has some affinities with THS. For a time, at least, it was available for free reading at the Baen Books site. If not, it is worth seeking oput and buying. For me, it's been the kind of book of which I buy copies to give to certain people.
Incidentally Walker is a big admirer of THS. Not that Wolf Time is an imitation; but there is affinity.
