Many of you will have already seen this page, but I just stumbled across and thought I'd post a link to it for those who don't know about it. It's a very detailed page giving information about allusions and references Lewis makes in THS. Good stuff here:

The author of that site is one of your fellow Wardrobians, actually
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

If you look on the title page of your copy, you'll see that the source of the title is provided by Lewis. It's from Ane Dialog betwix Experience and ane Courteour, by David Lindsay. (Not the David Lindsay that wrote Voyage to Arcturus, but the one who served in the court of King James V of Scotland in the early 1500s.)

Awesome. I'll visit that site often. I got curious when I read a bit from "The Rape of the Lock" in THS as to how many other lines he had inserted. thanx for the link. rose
