Lewis and the Industrial Revolution

Postby Solomons Song » June 11th, 2006, 9:04 pm

A long time ago, I thought I read Lewis' thoughts somewhere on the rise of industry. Didn't he say something to the effect of, "people will never find fulfillment in repetitive work."?

I am beating my brains out trying to find this reference, but it is eluding me. And I am beginning to think I never actually read it to begin with and am losing my mind. I thought it might be in some of his writings regarding the Tao, like Abolition or Poison of Subjectivism, but am yet to discover where I read it. :read:

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

Psalm 139:17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!

For crying out loud...

It was an expression of appreciation, amplified through the repetitive use of "Thank You"'s.
