The man who lives in contact with what he believes to be a living Church is a man always expecting to meet Plato and Shakespeare tomorrow at breakfast. He is always expecting to see some truth that he has never seen before. --Chesterton

It's great to hear Lewis actually say what he wrote in Mere Christianity. I haven't heard too many recordings of his voice-- just what is in the multimedia links on this website. One time I heard tapes of The Four Loves in a class we had in our church which mainly involved discussion of the book. Are there other links on the Internet of Lewis' radio talks?

My thanks, too. Highly appreciated!

There are two CDs available from the that you all might be interested in. One is Lewis reading The Four Loves. The other is C. S. Lewis Speaks His Mind. That one includes three audio broadcasts of Lewis'; him discussing Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progess, him reading a version of his essay 'The Great Divide', and him reading the introduction to The Great Divorce, including some comments on the works of Charles Williams.
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle

Maybe it's just the Brittish accent, but I find his voice too soothing. Methinks I might be lured to sleep if I were sitting in some conference room listening to him live. In fact, I'm feeling a bit sleepy now, but that could also have something to do with the fact that it's almost 10 pm.

It is really cool to hear his voice, though; I always wondered what he sounded like when he spoke. Aside from that, though, I think I'll stick to reading.
Take my voice and let me sing always only for my King.
Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from thee.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

Maybe this will help:
Launch Real Player and feed it this:
rtsp://rmv8.bbc.net.uk/religion/religio ... onality.rm

Don't click this as a link; copy it and choose 'file', then 'open' and paste in the link. It works via Real Player, not Internet Explorer.

Hope it works!

Ooh, thank you, now it works!! That is so cool, I had no idea what his voice sounded like before. And yes, I love his accent! :toothy-grin:

I trust you all have gone to the 'Multimedia' tab at the top of the page, clicked on 'audio files', and listened to Lewis reading from The Four Loves...

Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
