Screwtape Letters Question

Postby Lori » December 26th, 2006, 6:36 pm

I have a quick question(hopefully). When Screwtape says "The truth is.." Is Lewis referring to the actual truth/trying to get a spiritual truth across? Or are we supposed to perceive this as a lie since it is coming from the Lie himself? I'm kind of confused. An example would be: "The truth is that wherever a man lies with a woman, there, whether they like it or not, a transcendental relation is set up between them which must be eternally enjoyed or eternally endured."

Someone please fill me in here? Thanks.

Thankyou-
that quote sounded like a truth to me, it's just a little odd to me constantly figuring out what's a lie and what's not. But like you said - real evil is always mixed with truth so it just takes discernment. hmm.

"What are you laughing at?"
"At myself. My little puny self," said Phillipa.

Sorry... I am bad about trying to rekindle old threads.
