Heaven is more than a destination, it is a transformation. We are not principally seeking a ticket to enter, but [as you perceive] a change in our being that will comprise, and be, heaven. The joy and fullfillment of this alteration of our being - not limited to the mind or emotions - makes the journey incontestably, perceptibly, intelligibly the only real choice.
I think CSL's description of Limbo implies a very diminished existence, essentially sub-human. When you bring all your knowledge to the question, not appealing at all
What makes this even possible to frame as an alternative is our habit of talking about 'going to heaven', as a kind of admission - and those who assert a salvation of legal justification and substitutionary atonement may actually believe just this. The rest of us need only think of theosis, and the question vanishes.
