A copy of "De Description Temporum"

Postby OccamsTaser » April 17th, 2009, 7:38 pm

Hi This is my first post here. I'm looking for a copy of Lewis' lecture "De Description Temporum" he gave at Cambridge. Can it be found anywhere online? Or is it reproduced in one of his books? Thanks.

Welcome!

heh, OccamsTaser, the simplest solution is the one that hurts the most

De Description Temporum is collected in Selected Literary Essays and They Asked for a Paper.

Edited to add: Both of those are out of print, but a quick check of my shelves finds the essay is also collected in the book Essential C. S. Lewis, edited by Lyle Dorsett. It doesn't show up in the table of contents, what is listed there is just 'from They Asked for a Paper'. That book is still in print, and for a very reasonable price. If you buy a copy, please consider doing so via our bookstore link at the top of the page. We get a few cents of all purchases, which helps defray server costs.
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

The recording entitled "The Great Divide" on the C.S. Lewis Speaks His Mind audio collection is an adapted reading of "De Descriptione Temporum," is it not?

Does Sven know?
