I'm thinking it is in Mere Christianity, but it may be one of the collections of essays.

Looks like Lewis espied New-Age-ism before its time :-)

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

Sven, that's the one I was thinking of, although I recognized the Mere Christianity one too. Thanks.

I have always heard little bits and pieces about C.S. Lewis and knew tht his fame is being the most prolific Christian writer of the century, and of course when it was cook to own the Screwtape Letters, I got it too. I saw something on television awhile back about Lewis losing his faith after Joy died - He went from lifelong Christian - to marrying Joy and seeing her suffer and then the iracle of her remission and her death. After te death, he denounced the existence of God? It this true and if so was it a reaction to losing Joy - Ii send a lot of books into the female prison in Oklahoma and am sending The DIvorce today - is there a book about this? Is it Mere CHristianity? I honestly don't know -but want thee women to be able to read his works, but don't hve the time and money to get the wrong book for the topic the person is asking for. ANY GIDANCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. ALSO - I didn't know he died on the same date as JFK - amazing. Becky Hausdorf

Welcome, Becky!

No, Lewis didn't lose his faith. The book you need to read regarding this is his A Grief Observed. For the average audience Mere Christianity is an excellent book to start off with. That's the one that helped Chuck Colson find God when he was in prison.

Oh, and for the safety of minors visiting our sites, we don't normally permit email addresses.

Hope this helps.
