Nobody can deny the value of this friendship (& ongoing value to all of us!).
Here's a suggestion: This Q&A part of the forum is generally for quick answers, so if you wanted to have a real discussion with lots of ideas, you might find it useful to register and use the "Lewis - the man" forum.

There's a mention of the ongoing value of the friendship in this interview with Andrew Adamson (director of LWW film).

I suggest you read (if you haven't already) Colin Duriez's recent book Tolkien and Lewis: The Gift of Friendship. It certainly seems that Tolkien needed lots of nudges to finish any of his work and get it to a publisher.
