Thanks, I read somewhere that he had only taken in four children (another site) and so I just assumed that the four children that he had taken in were the basis he used to create Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy.

The information must have been wrong, thanks for the help.

I think that you are right in that Lewis got the idea of the Pevensies from his evacuees as his previous experience of children at least as an adult was practically non existent. It may even be that there were some personality aspects of the evacuees which he included in Peter Lucy et al, but their characters were definitely not directly based on any real children.
