Tell your mum to try Enid Blyton. The only things these two writers had in common were:

1. 20th century writers.
2. Wrote more than one book for children.
3. English.
4. Elements of the supernatural in their books for children.

(Blyton was a woman)

Hi - Your Mom may be confusing The Silver Chair and the The Wishing Chair.
"What are you laughing at?"
"At myself. My little puny self," said Phillipa.

Strange coincidence

I thought the title sounded familiar so I did a search in the blueyonder search engine... and guess what I got...
A reference to John LEWIS quality furnishing and accessories for every room (including wardrobes probably)

BUT on a more serious note...

The Adventures of the Wishing Chair
The Wishing Chair Again

By Enid Blyton.

As a post script.. I do have numerous Enid Blyton books in storage in the much clutered attic.. (but unfortunately some of the hardbacks were .. disposed off.. years ago.. only Brer Rabbit, Pixie Pip and a couple of others remaining).. so its possible these 2 books may actually be in my possesion... (yet another job to add to the TO-DO list)
Call yourself a dog???? I've seen better hair on a lavatory brush!!!
