There is indeed a professor, and his response to the children's questions about Lucy's story is very important. Re-read chapter 5.

Which is personally why i think reading MN before LWW is a mistake (especially for first time readers)... doing it that way explains too much

In LWW the Professor is actually a pivotal figure, even though he only has a few lines, they are actually extremeley important to the events which later occur.

If you ever have the time, try reading the Proffessors bit from the perspective of Peter for example.

Hmmm a non-heretical comment I must be tired.
