You're writing an essay for your exams?
In C S Lewis's day (and mine), essays and exams were two different parts of academic work. Odd....[what ARE they teaching them in schools these days?]

Wow - well for both my A-levels and my degree, essays written under exam conditions were an element.

Sometimes you were given the essay title in advance and were able to prepare, sometimes it was just given you on the day itself and you had to write whatever they asked for.

It's a world gone mad, Linda! I just don't see why things can't stay the same as they were when I was a girl. Why, next you'll be suggesting people will travel in space- no, wait, they did that when I was a girl. Okay, now you'll tell me that people will have telephones without wires...... ;)
