Trying to find a quote reference

Trying to find a quote reference

Postby okeiopie » 18 Jul 2006, 12:29

A preacher recently attributed a quote to C.S. Lewis and I have been trying in vain to find the source. Perhaps someone here will recognize it.

The text of the sermon reads: "C.S. Lewis made that point once -- powerfully. He said that maybe the most selfless, the most pure, the most powerful things we do in worship may be when we pour ourselves into something we don't like ourselves, but which is feeding a brother or a sister."

Any ideas???

Thanks for your help in advance.

It sounds like a very rough paraphrase from a chapter in Reflections on the Psalms about praise. I'll see if I can find the original.
"You can't go walking through Mordor in naught but your skin."
Put on the full armor of God.

Thanks for that information and for your help. I don't have that book -- looks like I need to order it. Be blessed! Vic
