I think C.S. Lewis's voice was much more pleasant to listen to. They were both great professors, but Lewis was the more gifted communicator. But I guess those who love Tolkien's books don't really mind if the man wasn't an orator. After hearing recordings of Lewis I think I think of what it would have been like to have been a student listening to him in one of his classes at the university. However, I love reading Tolkien as much as Lewis.
