Does this sound familiar?

Does this sound familiar?

Good morning!

There is a C. S. Lewis quote that says there is a silly idea going around that good people know nothing about temptation, and Lewis gives comparison to a strong wind. How do you know how strong a wind is? It isn't by lying down when the wind comes; it's by standing up against it.

Does this ring any kind of bell?

Hugs,

Welcome, Laura!

C. S. Lewis wrote:A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means. This is an obvious lie. Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is. After all, you find out the strength of the German army by fighting against it, not by giving in. You find out the strength of a wind by trying to talk against it, not by lying down. A man who gives in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.

Hope this helps.

Selah,
Sven
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.
