Iris Murdoch, The Sea, The Sea and Stephen King, The Shining. Why do you ask?

I think the Bible was too, wasn't it? (OT and NT count as two, right?)

--Stanley
…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

From the "Read For Posting" tread atop the Question forum:

On a final note: it helps if you use nice words, proper grammar, and not be demanding of our time. Keep in mind that this is a free site and we really don't have to help you. We provide help only as a courtesy...and that courtesy is expected to be reciprocated.

Is that a trick question? I thought the only thing printed in 1977 were posters protesting the Vietnam War.

It was over by then. Saigon fell in 1975. You're thinking of 1967.

Speaking of the Vietnam war, it was in 1977 that Carter pardoned the draft dodgers.

And speaking of wars in general, 1977 was the year that Star Wars debuted!

I'm showing my age, I guess. And it's evident how long it's been since I took a history class. :ashamed:  *ashamed and blushing*

I wuz skinny in 1977...
Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

I was not a book in 1977, but I was often 'between the covers' -in fact, every night!
