I'm trying to find a story which I believe was written by CS Lewis describing the absurdity of some of the actions we take at times. It involved an elderly lady (maybe a widow) whom the neighbors were concerend about because of her strange behavior. He descibes how on one evening they agreed to keep watch from outside her house and he relates in hilarious detail the situation of their standing out in the cold while she is sitting warm & comfortable in her home, obilivious to what they are doing Does this story ring a bell with anyone?

Gosh, that sounds so familiar! I can't think where I've read it though.

Try going to Amazon and searching through the Collected Letters maybe.
You can use the "Search Inside" feature to look for keywords through the entire text of a book.
