The word "will" is a modal auxiliary. It doesn't refer to the future as much as it expresses a desire that an event take place in the future. Of course, we call it a future tense, and it has that function, but grammatically, it doesn't work like one.

In that sense, Chinese (Mandarin) also doesn't have inflected future verbs . Interesting!

Hello John:
I don't think it's possible for me to master Polish verb at my age. Though it is not as difficult as Polish case endings with adjective and nouns. The first step to master Polish verb of course is to know the conjugation by heart and to tell the difference between imperfective and perfective verbs. For the imperfective verb, the future tense is like English 'I am going to...', for the perfective verb, it doesn't have present tense, but past and future. Interesting, isn't it?
