Christianity puts God in a box, discuss

Dear Folk,
This discussion seems to be getting nowhere, and working itself in circles. No one seems to be listeneing to eachother, and the replys seem to be extra fancy responses leading into useless tangets. Is there a conclusion that we are trying to reach here or are we (and be bluntly honest with yourself if you are truly an intellectual truth seeker) arguing simply for the philisophical one up.
Christ came and died so that he may forget about all sin, whoever repents of there sin (meaning that they are aware in there hearts that they are guilty of it), turns and calls on the Lord for salvation (a free gift that cannot be achieved but only accepted with faith), then we will enter into eternal rest with the creator of all things. If we die our chance to accept the gift is over ( this is a whole other doctrine for a whole other subject dealing with the theology of time in respect to eternity, we can talk about this later), but as said before God is patient not wanting any to perish. Please dont read this thinking that my tone is snobbish. You all seem to be great minds, and probably have much to teach me and many others. I just hope we are truly shooting to answer each others questions out of love. If we do this we will be better off and we will learn much more, because out of love comes full true expression, and if we got that from everyone in this forum much would be answered and accomplished.
God bless you all.

I understand your point Jo, but the Bible is full of subtleties, one of which is that the people who saw God this way were Jesus' chief enemies, He presented a forgiving God who would rather have repentant ordinary sinners than self righteous prigs afraid that God will zap them if they wash their hands the wrong way. "God gave the Law through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ"

SimmerJr,

It makes me feel hopeless when people say things like that .. i mean, about sin being all the same to God, though. I mean, noone can be without sin so what is the point in even trying if God sees telling one small lie in the same light as, I dunno, butchering a houseful of babies? If that really is the case then He can't like any of us all that much :(
