Old Robert Zimmerman ( AKA: Bob Dylan)

Old Robert Zimmerman ( AKA: Bob Dylan)

Postby Simmer Jr » October 20th, 2005, 3:20 am

Hello my fellow analyists,

Heres a some interesting quotes that we may humbly pick apart. :read:

 Bob Dylan  once said:

" He not busy being born is busy dying"

" You used to be so amused,
at Napoleon in Rags and the language that he used.
Go to him now he calls you, you cant refuse.
When you aint got nothin, you got nothin to lose.
Your invisible now, you got no secrets to reveal.
So how does it feel? "

" Temptation's page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover
That you'd just be
One more person crying."

My my my what a long memory you have.

Whenever I see or hear Bob Dylan these days I'm reminded of the line from another old and out of date song; the Who's 'My Generation'

'Hope I die before I get old'

Bob Dylan sings chumbled nonsense
Cat Stevens is embarrassing to anyone who ever fell in love with 'Buddha and the Chocolate Box'
Roger Daltry sell the American Express card on TV

Ha !

Only Roy Orbison left this world at the top of his game.

Very few of us believe the guff we believed in the sixties and the generation that was inspired by Dylan is surely leaving a sad legacy for their kids. Absentee parents are the norm, inability to form lasting relationships, Heroin and Cocaine are an everyday part of our children's world, we talk about ecology and can't get our overweight @rses out of our cars and we turned out to be every bit as full of blood lust as the generations we poured scorn on.

Bob Dylan changed nothing and means nothing.

I'm not sure this thread is particularly in the right place. I'm not sure that the Christianity section is the best place for it. Maybe a passing moderator will review the situation.

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

I guess I just don't "get" Dylan, and I never have. As I said, some of his lyrics are very good, as poetry, but there are only a few songs of his that I enjoy listening to him actually sing (Like a Rolling Stone being one of them). As for his Christian conversion, he's also been photographed at the Wailing Wall sporting a yarmulke, tallit and tefillin, so I think he's a bit confused, spiritually speaking. (P.S. to Stanley: in addition to Anthony Blanche, my husband does a mean Dylan imitation. :))
