Seriously, though, thanks Adam. I think one can't put "merely" and "authority of God" together in the same sentence and be making sense. (understanding that you put them together to make a point) But just to clarify, you are not, in fact, saying that the Bible is not God's word?

Would it be fair to say that it is elevated from mere words by the Word, which is Christ? And then I suppose it is elevated, not so much like a sort of magic spell worked on the words themselves, as it is by the Word and Spirit working in us as we read or listen to the words which carry the testimony?
