Media vita in morte sumus.

"Love loves unto purity...it strives for perfection, even that itself may be perfected - not in itself, but in the object...Therefore all that is not beautiful in the beloved, all that comes between and is not of love's kind, must be destroyed. And our God is a consuming fire...that only that which cannot be consumed may stand forth eternal." - George MacDonald

So I drew my sword and got ready
But the lamb ran away with the crown

(Quick reply) Holy cow! All this talk about my church and no one ever told me! Give me a day or so...
I see only one EO reply. Hi matdonna! (wave)

To pose questions to Orthodox people in a forum, I would recommend the Orthodox sub-forum at ChristianForums:

http://www.christianforums.com/f145-the ... hodox.html

The good thing about Christian forums is that people in congregational forums don't have to put up with torrents of abuse from people that don't share their faith, while there are general forums for discussing (or arguing about) different faiths. Posts in the congregational forums are limited to people who registered as Christians and moderated by monitors.

This is a specific thread that allows anybody, even non-Christians, to ask questions.

I like this website, and there are a lot of thoughtful and intelligent people here. Nevertheless, I don't much like discussing theology here because you have to share first principles - what it is you don't need to argue about.

(Given the large number of Catholic responses here) I will say that people who come to Orthodoxy from Catholicism are generally down on Catholic theology, while former Protestants, like moi are more upbeat - in my ex-Baptist case, Baptists are deeply mislead about what Catholics believe, and traditional Catholicism being close to Orthodoxy, my respect for Catholics has gone up considerably.

Stay tuned for a response to the OP...

The moral of the story is not to listen to those who tell you not to play the violin but stick to the tambourine.
