My most conservative views are about this very subject. I'd say at conception. As I said to one person who suggested that a homo sapiens embryo was not human, "Well, it's not an alligator, now, is it?"

I realize that this stance leaves me open to all sorts of accusations of incosistency when it comes to in vitro fertilization and use of embyos in stem cell research *sigh*

Well the thing is it could be tho .. for the first few weeks human embryos are pretty much indistinguishable to animal embryos, I believe :(.

A flake of skin is dead. An embyo is alive and is in the process of unfolding its DNA...

Gosh, yes, I know what you mean about the pictures. I had ultrasounds done in each of my pregnancies at 4 weeks gestation...all you see is, well, a little folded-over thing with SG-1 Asgaard eyes and an enourmous head... but you can watch the heart beating, and when you know that the little thing is your baby...*thinks of Angua at 4 weeks gestation and compares her with Angua at age 16...*

Sorry. I warned you. I'm not about to go out bombing or even picketing abortion clinics, and I have no intention of judging the actions or choices of anyone else, but personally, for myself, I just can't get around the human aspect of a fertilized human egg...

So do you disagree with IVF and emergency contraception?
