Thanks for those responces. I like Blake but I do not recognise that quote. Where is it from? Newton is another example I could have given of someone who thinks of time solely in this sequential way, and this (and his views of the nature of space) are strongly related to his Arian Christology. There is a lot about this in the writings of Thomas Torrence but most of the physics goes way beyond me. Isn't it interesting that Blake always views Newton as a rival philosopher rather than a scientist.

Polkinghorne's explanation of God and time is in a book called 'Science and Providence' It is an excellent book. Susan Howatch said it deserved to outsell 'A Brief History of Time'. It's certainly more readable for a non physicist. Polkinghorne has his own Q and A website at .

On the whole I'm with Mitch on this one but you might like to look at this:

which gives a different perspective.

I think that the relationships of ideas about in God's time experiencie are very much important to the philosophic studies. But, to refrain from, just, four views is to lose the discussion in full. Consequently, I risk "to mix" between the Lewis' ideas and the Jenier Grenier' phrase: "time just destroies what is real". So, I think that all the being of life to been summed up in a moment. The rest is just flame.
