“And turn their grief into song?" he replied. "That would be a gracious act and a good beginning."

Is God truly GOD?

Satan is an atheist. He says "No. God is not GOD, because he is mistaken in his judgment concerning Job. Job's love is not dis-interested."

God says "I am not mistaken."

Satan says "I can prove it."

The book of Job describes an attempted coup. Heaven and Earth hang in the balance. God commits his spirit into the suffering hands of a perfectly righteous man, such is God's faith in Job.

Had Job said "I am to blame," God would have fallen. Had Job cursed God prematurely, God would have fallen. Had Job said "God can do whatever he likes. Who am I to complain?", God would have fallen.

The only right path is the one Job took. He refused to admit guilt, and he refused to let God off the hook.

Anyway, have a look at the link. http://www.bookofjob.org/ He says it much better that I can.

Allan & Boromir,

Job really deserves a thread of its own. If you guys are interested (or anyone else is) I wouldn't mind starting one up tonight when I have my Tanakh at hand. I know you could fill multiple libraries with stuff written on Job, so we might be biting off more than we can chew, lol--but what the heck. It's worth the effort.

"I don't care if it is wrong," said one of the moles. "I'd do it again."
"Hush, hush" said the other animals.
