How would telling people to be nice to one another get a man crucified? What government would execute Mister Rogers or Captain Kangaroo?

It looks to me like they're looking for Orthodoxy. (Although some might understandably say Catholicism.)
It all comes down to that choice in the end anyway.

Yes, but he rebuked those who bragged about following superior teachers or churches. Your use of the miniscule o in orthodox is correct.
