As a would-be Episcopalian, I think I take exception to that. :wink:

At any rate, I wonder what a similar survey would show in the US? While I think more Christians here would say they believe in a bodily resurrection, I don't know that they could articulate how that differs from 'going to heaven when you die'. Nor could they say how (as Wright is at pains to show us, in many of his books and particularly this one) the anticipation of new creation and newness of life in God's Kingdom should affect our lives now.

What Wright is trying to do is to counteract the dispensational thinking of many evangelicals: the whole rapture, Left Behind, etc. paradigm. As a Catholic, much of this may have bypassed you, but this kind of thinking has had enormous effects in the US, not least on our foreign policy (chiefly our attitude towards Israel: look up 'Christian Zionism'). This isn't just an otherwordly matter.

And I'm a sucker for respectability. :wink:
