"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality."

Desmond Tutu

A man was walking along the bank of a river he saw a man drowning and jumped in and rescued him. The people passing by were astonished. Then he saw another man and another and another, each time he jumped in and as people saw what he was doing they began to join in to leap in and rescue people. Soon hundreds of rescuers were helping those drowning. The man, after rescuing a victim stood up and began walking up river. 'Where are you going they asked him?' 'I'm going to find out who is throwing them in he replied.'

What does God require of thee O man? Asks the scripture. To convert my neighbour reply the religious. You travel half the world to find a convert and by telling him to ignore social issues you make him twice the Son of Hell you are. No, says the scripture this is God's answer: to do justice to have mercy and to walk humbly with thy God.

What are kingdoms without justice, says Augustine, but criminal gangs.
