Hi Mitch

Well just to clarify. I thought you were saying all of ethics could be deduced from a single premise which you could teach to children from a young age. I thought there were all kinds of problems with that. I thought you were denying that we have an intuition which at the very least enables us to recognize ethical statements as ethical statements and because you were denying that were claiming that that in order to teach children to act ethically we would have to begin by giving an all encompassing definition of ethics. I thought there were huge problems with that. Then you said things that made it clear that was not what you were saying, so even though I was not sure exactly what you were saying I was pretty sure you were not saying the things I had problems with but were saying something more like what I had been saying - so I thought we were if not exactly agreeing then at least not definitely disagreeing so I thought we might as well call it quits. Unless you were saying the things I thought you weren't saying.

Ben. I need time to think about your stuff a bit.

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.

Not having time to get deeply into this I still thought people might find this interesting:
And this

Oh and Mitch I really liked your explanationof your way of looking at Genesis. It just makes sense to me nowadays to see it that way. The alternative approach what is sometimes called fundamentalism seems to me to be distorting the meaning of the text far more.
