I don't need a lecture, Stan. I know what the forums are for. I also know that a thread that mostly consists of two people disrespectfully bickering back and forth is usually something that Wardrobians don't like. So, I was under the assumption I was acting on behalf of others, but obviously I wasn't.
It's a fine line that I walk around here -- the vast majority of the time, nobody says a word to me about anything going on they don't particularly like. Instead, they just avoid various threads...and sometimes, when they realize they're avoiding too many, they just avoid the Wardrobe altogether.
If I don't say or do something when these things happen, it's said that I'm letting too much go, and I will risk good people leaving because they don't like the direction of the forums these days, usually with a wistful nostalgia for the "old days" to return. If I try to be proactive and do something without having received complaints about it (as usually is the case), then I run the risk of inappropriately making a judgment, or being judged myself as being heavy-handed. If I'm not consistent...well, then I'm censoring and showing bias.
I made the wrong judgment in this case.
