…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

Okay, so (if I have this right), it's not that Mary's ascent to the throne as "Queen of Heaven" is more important than Christ's birth, but it is very, very important and her staying a virgin during her marriage was a prerequisite for attaining that role. I'm not trying to be sarcastic in any way. I'm just trying to wrap my head around this.

This has been a fascinating discussion, but I can't help but feel we've hijacked this thread for a purpose far from it's intended use. Perhaps a separate thread on the nature and signficance of Mary would be more appropriate.

I know it was as much my fault as anyone else's, so that's why I feel like I ought to suggest this.
Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
