I was talking about wisdom. I said there is a lot of it in the Tao Te Ching. Wisdom is very much about how not why.

Science may tell me I have a bull in my China shop
Religion may tell me why it is there
Wisdom tells me how to get it out.
So I drew my sword and got ready
But the lamb ran away with the crown

I love Merton's translation of Chang Tzu. Steven Mitchell's translation of the Tao Te Ching is my favorite, although I own a bunch of different translations.

My dominant thought on the Tao Te Ching (at least at the moment) is this: is striving really such a bad thing?
