As a devoted
Star Trek fan, of course I instinctively believe in parallel universes and alternate timelines. (And heck, why shouldn't the multiverse be much more complicated than we usually like to admit?)
But if that be the case...and given an infinite number of parallel universes/alternate timelines...well, it may be that there really isn't any such thing as random chance or even decision-making, per se. That is, anything that can happen has happened in one reality or another. Any decision you could have made you have made in one reality or another. In other words, maybe history plays out every way it possibly can--and the coin you flip lands on both heads and tails every time. Does that thought make anyone else stop and stare?
