…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

I ran across this only today, actually:

How about the love between Andreth, a human, Numenorean woman, and the elf Aegnor (the brother of Finrod)?

(See Morgoth's Ring, Volume X of The History of Middle-earth,edited by Christopher Tolkien, pages 307 and following.)

There is another! I never heared about that. And the opposite way too, male elf, female human. Interesting. I will have to read up on that.

I thought I'd revive this thread to mention Turin and Finduilas, who certainly had a flirtation going on there. Although their relationship was close, Turin thought of Finduilas only as a sister, while Finduilas definitely had un-sisterly feelings towards Turin even though she was practically engaged to another elf. Oh, the scandal!
