I have been struck by the comment that as Melkor makes more and more servants, his power decreases as it is spread wider and wider. This would mean (and rightly so) that the power of Melkor (who is after all himself a created being) is finite, while the power of Iluvatar knows no limits no matter how many "children" are brought into being. Does this mean that evil, despite its pervasive nature, is also fixed in quantity, while goodness is expansive and will ultimately prevail? Such an optimistic view would be in keeping with the underlying message of Christian theology in general and The Revelation to John in particular.

Hello, A# minor.

Thanks for asking. I'm still reading, but somewhat behind -- I'm still with you in spirit and hope to catch up by early next week.

Regards.
