How often do you watch LOTR?

Postby A#minor » December 20th, 2005, 4:50 am

I haven't watched my Extended Edition LOTR in awhile. Why, it's been months since I've watched my favorite movie!
Do you also find that it's just too much to watch very often? I mean, to watch it properly you really have to sit down with a day or two of nothing to do and have a lengthy movie marathon. Hold my calls, ignore my friends, yell at my family to be quiet and leave me alone, skip work, skip church, and enter the world of Middle-earth!

It's the same with other movies too. When I was a kid, we'd watch Sound of Music only once or twice a year; never more b/c it was just too long.
Do you have a movie that is only watched once a year like that (besides Christmas movies)?

"What are you laughing at?"

Rat! he found breath to whisper, shaking. Are you afraid?
Afraid? murmured the Rat, his eyes shining with unutterable love.
Afraid! Of Him? O, never, never! And yet -- and yet -- O, Mole, I am afraid!
Then the two animals, crouching to the earth, bowed their heads and did worship.

I love the movies, but like Adam Linton I still prefer to read the book. :read:

"Never seen them at all" is not an option! I am shocked and amazed that anyone on the planet could never have watched LOTR.
What is this world coming to? ;)

You know I watched them all twice in the theatres too. Except for Fellowship, which I watched three times. I was so glad to get my hands on the Extended Versions though.

Well, I just finished a LOTR movie marathon! My brothers and I watched all three movies back to back. We have done nothing else all day long!
We started at 10am and we finished at 10:30pm! We would have finished at 10pm exactly, but we took a 30 min. break for dinner and presents.
So yes, 12 hours of LOTR and it was awesome! I've never watched them all in one day before; I've watched them all together in two days, but never the same day. I definitely reccommend it!

It's so much more meaningful when you can see it all at one time. The development of the characters is more pronounced, and when something happens or someone says something you can think, "They said that because of what happened before." I don't know how, but it means so much more and gives more insight into the characters.

Oh, my. It's late. I must go to bed.
Merry Christmas to all!

Last July I also watched all three in one day, but since I have the VHS (hence unextended version), it only took about 9 hours. It was great!!!
