Ever read "After the King"?

Postby A#minor » February 9th, 2006, 3:53 am

Has anyone ever read this book?

I haven't read it, but it seems like blasphemy somehow. How can anyone go after Tolkien and have the gall to try to write like him?
He's the creator of Middle-Earth! Noone else has the right to go in and take over management just because he's dead and gone!
Of course, I can't really criticize b/c I haven't even read it. I might like it, you never know.
Has anyone read it? Did you like it?

Today I went to IKEA and hid in the wardrobes, and every time someone opened the doors I welcomed them to Narnia!!

I have read it and liked it a lot. The description is very correct that 'Diamond in the rough' provided. I bought it after I had exhausted most of the Tolkien books... at the time. Not knowing much about fantasy writers other than Tolkien and Lewis I found it very helpful. If you're interested in other fantasy writers and don't know where to start it's a good start to give you an idea what you do or don't like in fantasy. The choices are many and varied. Good and bad works together.
