Welcome Jimbo!

Faramir is my favorite character in the book, and it is upsetting to see how he is portrayed in the movie. In the book, Faramir comprehended the power and danger of the Ring and utterly refused it. I detest how the movie version has him taking Frodo and the Ring to Denethor!

However, the movie brought an aspect of his character and situation that I had not thought of before - his terrible position of being the less-favored son, and his burden to be both sons to his father.

I am saddened that both Lothlorien and Ithilien were portrayed as dark, forbidding places in the films. In the books, they were havens, places of safety, refreshment and beauty. Places where you could catch your breath and regroup.
