"Justin Ralphael Ruben Tolkien "
:brood: I'm sorry, what??? Don't you mean John Ronald Reuel Tolkien? No joking matter, my friend.

Heh-heh. Look, if you don't know the quote A#, just admit it. Don't lead us off on rabbit trails about the true meaning of the initials J.R.R., which obviously have been lost to antiquity. :toothy-grin:

i believe that that might be ... oh hell, who is it? I think it's about discussing going through Moria, and SOMEBODY - Gandalf? - speaks those words. Then someone else - Aragorn? - says something like, he too passed through and returned but has no wish to again, and a generic hobbit says 'and I don't want to even once'. Am I right?

Although not the most specific citation in the world (and I'm pretty sure Pippin wouldn't like to be called generic), you are correct. It's Book II, chapter 4, "A Journey in the Dark".

Give us a quote, love.

Don't get me started on generic young hobbits ;)

Lesse, this is from memory as my book is upstairs and I am too lazy to go and get it:

"Yes of course. Who did you think it was?"
"I saw it begin,” said the Lord Digory. “I did not think I would live to see it die"

Oh well ... this is Meriadoc Brandybuck towards the end of "A short cut to mushrooms" being taken initially for a Black Rider.

Now give me a couple of minutes to think of a question ....

It's Gimli in ROTK, in the chapter 'The Last Debate" speaking of the journey through the Paths of the Dead.

New quote:

The choice is yours: to go or wait.
"What are you laughing at?"
"At myself. My little puny self," said Phillipa.
