Into the Wardrobe

I checked The Hobbit out of the library recently. I had read about a third of it in the morning and set it down to do something else. My younger brother, age 14, popped in and asked if he could read the Tolkien book? I think he was intrigued by the dragon on the cover. :) Well, for the rest of the day, he was on the couch reading it intently. I mean, glued. It made me smile. :)

The next day, we were out for our walk, and he kept bringing up funny parts of the book, so we could laugh together over them. :)

Today, he asked if we could get The Two Towers. I think we've got another fan here. :)

Why TTT next, and not FOTR?

I read THe Lord of the Rings over about 18 months to my son when he was about 11-12. We started on The Hobbit soon after that, but we haven't finished it yet. I keep thinking "Why doesn't he read it himself? He could have finished it by now." He's 14, and he can read, but he prefers to have me read it to him.

What?! What boring parts? The presumption of that young imp! :shocked:
Good for you that you made him go back and read it completely.

These young whipper-snappers just think they can skip around in the holy Tolkien scriptures?! Hmph! They need to be taught a lesson.
