Here are a few new ones of Tolkien himself that I've just finished.

ooh, i like the ones of tolkien especially.
the movie ones are wonderful... very well done,
but i'm an irksome purist

i probably need to change my avatar anyway.
i don't want people who aren't familiar with the story to think i read harlequin romance novels

Maybe I could make some non-PJ-and-Phillipa-desecrated LOTR icons for you from different artists that have done LOTR sketches and paintings.
...Hmmmmm.... like John Howe and what's-his-name and those twin brothers, the Hildebrants. I'll look into it. I definitely sympathize with your purist sentiments.

alan lee is definitely my favorite LOTR artist...
well, i should just say that i prefer him over john howe,
but i do like a lot of the paintings by the hildebrandts as well.

Ah, yes, that's the guy. Alan Lee. I like him too. Well, I'm off to Google Images to get some images to work with!

Here is another live journal person who has made some really great icons and things (some of them are not from the movies). You'll have to follow the rules if you use those icons though. Other people are more picky about credit than I am.

I just made a batch of new LotR signatures and icons for anyone who would like to use them.
Click to take a look! Please don't give me credit for these since I didn't paint the artwork. Give credit to John Howe or Alan Lee or Ted Nasmith.
Teasers:

(For the "English police" around here, I used both the British and American spelling of the word "traveler/ traveller" in the text of the icons. It is not a misspelling.)
