The Hobbit Quote Game

Postby A#minor » January 24th, 2007, 3:03 am

Some people have mentioned that we might start a separate thread for quotes from The Hobbit so as to keep the LOTR quote game more simple and keep everything less confusing.
So here we go...

" 'Something strange is happening,' said ______. 'The time has gone for the autumn wanderings; and these are birds that dwell always in the land; there are starlings and flocks of finches; and far off there are many carrion birds as if a battle were afoot!' "

Smaug, of course, to our beloved Burglar, in "Inside Information."

Oh dear, I've been neglecting this thread.

That would be Gandalf... after being asked where he has been all day. It's chapter 7, I think.

The next quote is:

"I could eat anything in the wide world now, for hours on end - but not an apple!"

I hope that's exact.
I posted it in spite of the fact that I am currently eating an apple.

That is Fili after he gets out of his apple barrel in which he had been floating down river to LakeTown in the chapter A Warm Welcome.

Heh. Gandalf, in chapter 1, an Unexpected Party, which I've just been reading through in my beautiful new copy I got for Christmas-- the green leather-look, gold-embossed, slip-cased edition with nice shiny colour plates....

.....and a TYPOright on the second page of chapter one!! SO irritating!

but that's another thread altogether.......

That's Bilbo with a cold at the feasts in LakeTown in the chapter A Warm Welcome.

" 'My dear Bilbo!' he said. 'Something is the matter with you!...' "

That's Bilbo up in a tree above Mirkwood in Chapter Flies and Spiders.
