Okay, so I'll start working on combining all the Lewis forums into one (we'll call it That Lewis Feller) and I'll begin creating some other community forums for technology, cooking, footie, home & garden, and...er...*thinking*

I like threads about "Lewis and" and "Inklings and" etc etc. Maybe there would be more of them in an "Other Writers" kind of forum than when a poster has to DECIDE which forum to start a thread in.

Point proven. I could barely read 10 out of 15 words there.

I was a little surprised to find that I could read almost all of it. It would seem it mostly is English written to reflect how the Scots pronounce it.

I dinna cud mak oot a few wors, but most were nae too hard to ken.

(How's my cheesy attempt at the dialect, DJ?) :toothy-grin:
I did have some prior practice - Richard Adam's "The Plague Dogs" has a tod (fox) that talks like that.

Lilith

Postby Stanley Anderson » July 9th, 2007, 9:14 pm

…on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a fair green country under a swift sunrise.

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.
