Wow - how did I miss this post earlier? This ties right in with [url]my recent post[http://cslewis.drzeus.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4231] on Michael White's Tolkien biography, where White beats up on Lewis in a fashion similar to Wilson.
It'd be nice to pull together what we have on Lewis to avoid intellectual dishonesty and think about the man in real terms. I'm sure he was a sinner like we all are, but that doesn't negate his considerable intellect and command of logic. In general, printing seedy stuff about the ways in which he failed serve nothing. It's like saying that he breathed and pulled on his pants just like the rest of us and that the sky is often blue. No kidding, but don't waste our time! What we want to read about is what was different, and I think it's pretty obvious that he was different in applying logic to Christian apologetics and putting it in terms that ordinary folk could understand. Details about "fetishes" or a passion for drink, mistresses, etc is just wasting my time. We all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
