"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle

Is Hooper still alive? I've never been able to understand why a man of the cloth who professed to be a friend of Lewis's would have done such a thing as Lindskoog alleged, and hence I have never been particularly in agreement with the allegations either. There just doesn't seem to be anything at all to have been gained by it.

The Dark Tower

FYI, the Lindskoog/Hooper controversy is addressed (and rather well answered) in the February 2007 issue of Christianity Today. Here's the entire article online:

"Shedding Light on The Dark Tower"
A C.S. Lewis mystery is solved.

Many public libraries have back issues for check-out, if you prefer a hardcopy.
"The 'great golden chain of Concord' has united the whole of Edmund Spenser's world.... Nothing is repressed; nothing is insubordinate. To read him is to grow in mental health." The Allegory Of Love (Faerie Queene)

kbrowne,

That is fascinating: would you be so kind as to post the URL for the MereLewis page where that accusation is made? Or if you name the year, I can get it through a search engine easily.

My thanks,

Larry
