TV Programme on C S Lewis

TV Programme on C S Lewis

Postby Bill » December 25th, 2005, 12:26 am

For those with access to BBC2 there is to be a dramatised documentary at 9.00 p.m. on Friday 6th January called C S Lewis; Beyond Narnia.

Lewis will be played by Anton Rogers but I do not recognise any of the other actors' names.

Everyone will be in it including Mrs Moore!

Should be worth watching if only to see how they can get Jack's whole life story into one hour!

Wish I could see it... I don't seem to have access to BBC2 here in the States. Just the watered down BBC: America version.

"Jill," said Tirian, "you are the bravest and most wood-wise of all my subjects, but also the most malapert and disobedient."
"By the Mane!" he whispered to Eustace. "This girl is a wondrous wood-maid. If she had Dryad's blood in her she could scarce do it better." - The Last Battle

Having read Sayer's book I am curious to see how the program will challenge the Shadowlands version of Lewis that is known to so many. I will definitely be watching and hope to see a less idyllic version of his life. More gritty and realistic although hopefully correspending to the Sayer biography not the nasty one. The nasty one was ballcocks.

If a managable (say, less than 20) people want a copy of this program on DVD, I'm happy to snail mail it to them (PM me - I don't want any money for this). I hope this is OK and not an inappropriate offer in any way - mods are welcome to delete this post if it is.

Well I enjoyed it and given the severe time restraint I thought they did a reasonable job. It was rather strange though how Mrs Moore and Maureen just disappeared!

Obviously we who know a lot about Jack could pick a lot of holes, but for the general public who might perhaps know about him only as the author of the CoN, I thought it gave a reasonable "flavour" of Jack and his remarkable life.
