Although I know that Lewis was Irish, I've never thought of him that way (James Joyce and William Trevor, yes, but not Lewis.) If I were describing him to someone, I would say he was a British writer. But perhaps that's just my American ignorance showing. :)

He's not Irish. He's thoroughly British. The fact that he and Tolkien felt the need to come up with another mythology is the capper for me.
