If Lewis were alive today

The man. The myth.

If Lewis were alive today

Okay skating over the fact that he would be well over a hundred by now, it IS conceivably possible that Lewis could still be alive today. What do you think he would have made of the decades between his death and this time? To be honest it's maybe better he died when he did cos I can't see him having thought much of the whole hippie movement, the seventies drug culture and the eighties greed thing. Do you think he would have been saddened at what has happened to society in the past forty years? Would he have felt out of place? Might he have found anything to like and admire in these cultures?

I'm willing to bet he'd have a lot to say about the the current events in the Middle East, considering the Calormens and all in the Narnia books.

I wonder what modern writers he would enjoy.

Then they came for the Iraqis and I protested because I was an American. Then they came for the Muslims and I spoke out because I was a Christian, Then they came for the poor and I spoke out because I was rich. By the time they came for me, I had all the support a man could ask for.”

Please Do! Well, he'd have more books written.

Lewis would obviously have disapproved of those having no respect for one's country or partriotism. But I don't think he had a great interest in politics beyond a citizen's expected duty to participate in government. The subject is seldom mentioned in his books. He probably would just have been disgusted at flag burning, but I think Christianity meant far more to him than the flag of his own country.
